Christians- Don't stories like this put out to the public sadden you?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080327/ap_o...

It%26#039;s not just the fact that they say its 2 million years old but Yahoo and other news sites put this information out as if it%26#039;s absolute truth. As if to say, %26quot;This scientist said it so every other scientist on earth agrees with him%26quot;. What the crap??

Christians- Don%26#039;t stories like this put out to the public sadden you?
Wow... folks who CHOOSE fiction sadden me... The amount of evidence as to the age of the earth and the things there in has such a mass of evidence as to be nearly incontrovertible but... OMG it ain%26#039;t in the bible therefore its wrong...

How backwards is that?
Reply:Unless you are a scientist, what makes you smarter than those who have comfirmed this?
Reply:CHEERS!!!

%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;====*drinks only coffee because she%26#039;s at work*
Reply:actually if you understood how dating methods worked you wouldnt be saddend
Reply:The vast majority of scientists don%26#039;t believe in a 6,000-year-old earth.
Reply:why do they publish scientific opinions when everyone knows you should ask a priest first
Reply:You sadden me....

(Cries in a corner)
Reply:Hmm, this is an odd question.

My Christian mother emailed me this story with the heading %26quot;exiciting fossil find!%26quot;.

I guess she%26#039;s not a real Christian though, since she uses her brain and accepts evolution, as did my Christian father.
Reply:You are right Jason! The earth is only 6000 years old. The bible teaches that. I don%26#039;t care what anyone else says, the bible is 100% historically accurate. Scientists who %26quot;guess%26quot; that the earth is millions of years old obviously don%26#039;t believe what God says. Good Job, Jason!
Reply:Yes, and they are finding men fossils over 1 million years old in Spain, too... The Devil must be confusing the minds of people!!!
Reply:i think it is ok to be a christian and still belive in science.

you dont HAVE to interpret the bible that way.

but of course im not a christian at all so easy for me to say!

i do know christians who also teach biology and geology.....

you should not be sad just because other people belive different things than you.. its a fact of life, accept it.

everyone has a right to their own opinions, and if you respect those of others, they will respect yours.

(do unto others, and etc..)

best to you

: )
Reply:no because the likelyhood is that the world is more than 6000 yrs old. carbon-14 dating is very effective and quite accurate too. this doesnt however mean that the bible is wrong in suggesting that the world is only 6000 years old. many scholars now believe that there should be a gap between verses one and two of genesis.

%26quot; in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.%26quot;

(gap)

%26quot;now the earth was formlessand empty..%26quot;

the original translation of the word was should actually have been more likely translated as became. now the world became formless! this suggests that God could have created the world a long time ago and dinosaurs roamed and cavemen humans. then something would have happened to throw the world into upheaval and make the world formless and black etcetc. this could have been anything from a meteroid hitting the earth and sending up sand clouds or waves of water that block out the sun to God scrapping the world and starting over. this suggests that science and christianity both have it right.
Reply:Christians are saddened by the truth except on the rare occassions that it coincides with their warped view of the world. So yes, this will sadden some Christians, but it will not stop it being true.
Reply:i don%26#039;t understand your question.....is it because no buildings in port huron are over 60%26#039;long....or is it that there are no 60%26#039;sharks in the river?......
Reply:Not really

Praise the Lord!
Reply:You%26#039;re right that assumptions are made about dates and then stated as fact.

Those people on here who claim that the dating methods used are accurate have no idea what they%26#039;re talking about. Carbon dating and all radiometric dating is based on assumptions about many variables that can not be possibly verified.

People should be honest about estimates instead of having their own agendas about dating finds like this.
Reply:Yeah, the lost accept it with a second thought.
Reply:no....I have no problem with it.....I figure my Lord made everything, whether it%26#039;s 4000 years ago, or 4 mil years ago.
Reply:No kidding! (Question to %26quot;them%26quot;: Where do the %26quot;scientists%26quot; get their %26quot;sources%26quot;??)
Reply:This just proves to me how bad carbon dating is! the article says it is 2 million years old. but was there an ocean where this guy found the tooth 2 million years ago. ?

next they will invent a story of how it got to the shallow water!
Reply:Sad indeed, scientists are getting more and more obstinate and godlike these days.

Religion and science were traditionally one and the same discipline -- it is only relatively recently that they became differentiated. There have been many cases where scientists tested actual live animals to be millions of years old. How do they know the dating is correct today?

A Christian should never forget that God is above man%26#039;s science: %26quot;For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. . .%26quot; (1 Cor 3:19).

The problem is that -- there%26#039;s a massive misunderstanding of science in the general public on both sides of the fence and in the media -- a scientist doesn%26#039;t deal in truth but merely a system of allocating preference to different ideas of what might be true (at this period of time). I have faith that in 100 years if we are still all alive, that a good portion of today%26#039;s science will be modified to fit the findings of the future, without any guarantee of an end point where we can claim we know it all. Rather, we will always encounter much error, as the practice of science always has -- it should not be forgotten. To think otherwise would be a conceit.
Reply:I think its hilarious that they believe stuff like that. Here are a few fun facts.

Using carbon-dating, live penguins have been shown to be thousand of years old. (Must be a fountain of youth at the south pole or something.)

There are pertrified clams at the top of Mount Everest. This proves that there was a world wide flood.

The reason why scientist claim that the earth is millions of years old is because none of the things they claim to have happened have ever in anyway been shown true on the world. Give it some time and it should happen by itself. Right? Wrong, you leave a rock on the ground and no matter how long its sits there it isn%26#039;t going to roll over unless someone does something to make it roll over. Believe me, everything on earth and in the universe is a lot more complex than a rock rolling over. Notice how someone has to do something to make the rock roll over. Scientists don%26#039;t want to admit that the facts show that there is a someone. Make up a story and voila! there doesn%26#039;t have to be a someone. Pretty clever, eh?
Reply:what are you like 8?

what evidence do you have that the earth is 6000 years old?

the bible? hah!

It saddens me that people like you can believe crap like that.
Reply:If you are talking about the age of the earth it%26#039;s more like 350 billon years old.
Reply:It%26#039;s a conspiracy! The whole world (apart from the US Bible belt) is against god! How can they not see that this is just a big lie!

%26lt;/sarcasm%26gt;
Reply:Today is the first day in my life that I learned people actually believe the earth began 6,000 years ago and I am stunned.

If that is really believed, honestly, that is incredibly silly.

I suggest you switch over to some other epic book like LOTR or something...it%26#039;s much more interesting and hopeful and much easier to read...and holds about the same reality in it as the book that is telling you the world began 6,000 years ago.

Absolutely unbelievable.
